How Realplej began…

From the beginning, Realplej was an experimental RPG (Role Playing Game) and ARG (Alternate Reality Game – played over multiple plattforms/channels) project. Eventually some mainstream and family games where published at the first Realplej website. The underlying idea was that players had to physically examine certain real locations to solve puzzles and advance in the games. The city of Gothenborough was testing ground for a these games. The old homepage is still up for show, but many links are broken and the games are outdated.

The most popular game was “Detektiven och klockstölden” (The Detective and the CLock theft). It was somewhat similar to the classic tabletop game Cluedo. In order to solve a case, players unlocked hints ny examining real locations and when enough hints where collected the perpetrator of the crime could be singled out.

Another game, “Mysteriet med mosaikmannen” (The mystery of the mosaic man)was a kind of ‘soft’ ARG. It included snooping in a real museum exhibition and searching digitalized historical documents from an online database. Progress was also made through traditional ‘point and click’ game screens.

It was later converted to a standard ‘one app-one device’ point and click computer game- “The kitchin family mystery” – available at this page or itch.io

The realplej project then moved on to spare time/hobby indie development of traditional computer games – you can find the games on this page or at itch.io.
